its an extra tonal option that can come in handy, it basically splits the humbucker into a single coil.

the coil tap sounds sweet when playing clean parts especially.

coil-tap is alright but as Connall said it's mostly for clean parts. The sound loses a lot of beef when you switch to single coil.
And so, i said i'd get a Washburn Idol series but the good people of Music Maker were out of stock. So i bought a X-50 instead. (still washburn). It has the coil-tap as well as that new Buzz Feiten for improved intonation.
It looks like a Schecter except for the really cheap looking fender strat-like black headstock. Ambre finish... great acoustic. Pick-ups really suck balls but it's all that's wrong with that baby. (and the shitty fender headstock... *sigh*)
So, a good deal at €329 ( originally 650!).
I'm happy

I really like what I'm seeing on the Schechter website. The Cure play them so that's always going to be a big selling point with me! Also Richard plays Schechters, and I know he's a bassist but still! I didn't even know they existed, or maybe I forgot? They're seriously nice guitars. I'm very picky that way. It took me so long to choose my first decent guitar (after my beginners one that is) but eventually I settled on an Epiphone Les Paul. That was 2 years ago so I've been thinking lately that it's time to move to something else, or at least have something else in reserve. If I could choose one I'd go for the Robert Smith guitar I saw there! Wow.
